Fannie Mae Launches Tender Offer to Buy Back CAS Notes
Fannie Mae initiated fixed-price cash tender offers to repurchase Connecticut Avenue Securities notes, the company announced Monday.
Fannie Mae announced Monday it has commenced fixed-price cash tender offers to repurchase outstanding Connecticut Avenue Securities notes, according to a statement from the government-sponsored mortgage giant headquartered in Washington.
The offers, described by the company as covering "any and all" of the specified CAS notes, represent a move to manage its credit risk transfer portfolio. Connecticut Avenue Securities are structured notes through which Fannie Mae transfers a portion of mortgage credit risk to private investors, reducing the company's exposure on pools of single-family home loans.

The announcement, made under Fannie Mae's OTCQB ticker symbol FNMA, follows a broader pattern among government-sponsored enterprises of actively managing outstanding debt instruments when market conditions allow. Tender offers of this type give existing noteholders the opportunity to sell holdings back to the issuer at a predetermined fixed price prior to the notes' scheduled maturity.
Fannie Mae did not publicly disclose the specific dollar size of the repurchase or the precise terms attached to individual note series beyond the initial announcement. Holders of the targeted CAS notes would typically be advised to review the formal offer documents for eligibility requirements, deadlines, and pricing details before making any decision to tender.
